Who is Denise Moffat?
Bill Oakes, reviewer for The East Bay Window, comments, “Denise’s eyes and smile lure you in just before her sweet, gutsy voice delivers its jazzy knockout punch. Her songwriting is brilliant – food for the soul.”
As an actress, favorite roles having included Truvy in Steel Magnolias, Mrs. Rhodes in Seven Keys to Baldpate, (directed by Kerry at Bristol Summer Theatre), Irene in A Confederacy of Dunces, Susan the Hooker in No Sex, Please, We’re British!, and Fleur in Miss Reardon Drinks a Little.
A published poet, novelist and freelance journalist, Denise has taught writing at Rhode Island College. “I got a kick out of banishing the fear of writing from students who swore it just wasn’t their thing.”
She is the proud mother of Natalie Moffat.
Denise has worked as a medical transcriptionist, most currently at a V.A.-connected service transcribing surgery reports of soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Denise’s latest original song, The Wild, Wise Woman, is also the title of Volume Two of her poetry series Little Girl Walking Down Broadway, and of her upcoming CD.
You can see Denise Moffat and Kerry Callery perform at Plan Bean this Friday May 20th for our opening reception of Vintage Girl Studios' The Creative Session exhibit.
